Vaginal Sheath Removal

During vaginal sheath removal, Dr Kanhai removes the entire vagina. This is called a total vaginectomy. Some transgender men get a vaginectomy as part of gender affirmation surgery, this can help reduce gender dysphoria. This is also called female-to-male (FTM) “bottom surgery”.

The surgical reconstruction involves the creation of natural appearing breasts and a vaginaplasty.

Breast-augmentation includes:

  • lipofilling
  • implantation of prosthesis

Genital reconstruction includes a vagina and mons pubis that is both sensate and functional. This includes:

  • removal of the stigmatizing penis and scrotum
  • a feminine-appearing labia majora and minora
  • a sensate neo-clitoris and clitoral hooding
  • adequate introitus width for intercourse
  • adequate vaginal depth

The surgical procedures involves thoracale reshaping, laparoscopic hysterectomy and oophorectomy and genital reconstruction. The thoracale reshaping includes the subcutaneous mastectomy:

  • donut procedures
  • inverted-T
  • vertical technique
  • free nipple transfer
  • wise pattern

Hysterectomy is done by our gynaecologist:

Vaginal sheath removal can be done in combination with the gynecological procedure or seperately.
